Helping Snazzy Feel Safe

How to Understand Dogs and Stay Safe Around Them

A simple, gentle children's book that helps them understand dogs — and learn how to interact safely.

👉 Coming Soon

Dogs are always communicating - even without words

Dogs don’t use words…but they are always communicating through their body, their movement, and the space they create.

When children don’t understand those signals, everyday moments can quickly become confusing — or unsafe.

Helping Snazzy Feel Safe is designed to change that, in a way that feels simple, calm and easy for children to understand.

About the story

Snazzy is a gentle dog who doesn’t always feel safe — especially when things get loud, fast or overwhelming.

When a child tries to say hello, Snazzy shows how she feels in her own way…by turning away, stepping back, and asking for space.

But what happens when someone learns how to listen?

This story gently shows how small, calm choices can help a dog feel safe — and help children stay safe too.

Meet snazzy

Snazzy is a gentle, sensitive dog who needs a little extra time to feel safe.

She loves the beach, quiet moments, and being close to her people — but like many dogs, she can feel unsure when things move too fast.

Through Snazzy, children learn how to recognise what dogs are feeling — and how to respond in a calm, safe way.

The big message

When we understand dogs…
we help them feel safe.

And when dogs feel safe…
everyone stays safe.
